Service Award: Sheryl Gibson, 20 Years

Conservationist, painter, number wizard—in her 20 years of service to the state of Oklahoma (11 of those years at the Oklahoma Conservation Commission), Sheryl Gibson has proven herself to be as dedicated as she is adept at the complex task of managing federal funds in her position as Financial Management Division assistant director.

Sheryl Gibson receives her 20 year pin from OCC Chairman Jim Grego (left) and OCC executive director Mike Thralls (right).

Numbers to cross beneath Sheryl’s keen red pen include funds for USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service watershed rehabilitation, EPA Nonpoint Source Pollution program funds, Department of the Interior mine land reclamation, and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

In her free time, Sheryl and fellow Financial Management colleague, Karen Potts, enjoy attending oil painting classes. Their work adorns many walls at the Commission offices and is a joy to staff and visitors alike.

Thank you for your service, Sheryl!
