Oklahoma Couple Begins Their Regenerative Ag Journey

Wyatt and Kelsey Lohman are two producers who were recently accepted into the Oklahoma Conservation Commission’s Soil Health Implementation Program. The two recently purchased land in Western Oklahoma and are excited to help the land heal from traditional farming practices while introducing practices that have conservation at the forefront.

Our Soil Health Team is working closely with the two of them to develop and execute a SHIP Conservation Plan and will provide continuous support and guidance throughout the length of the program.

Wyatt Lohman’s conservation journey started when he walked into the Deer Creek Conservation District and started learning about all the various practices and programs to choose from. Wyatt is now a board member for the Deer Creek Conservation District and continues to encourage producers to attend local meetings and events. “It was the best thing that could have happened to me, walking into that office and getting that invitation,” says Lohman, “There are a lot of people that are involved in conservation; it made me really happy because I knew there’s a lot of people that also care.”

Kelsey and Wyatt hope to inspire more young people to start thinking about taking care of the land they live on earlier rather than later. “I’m hopeful that we can start getting more people in the door that don’t know anything about conservation,” Wyatt told us.

Keep an eye out for our full interview with Wyatt and Kelsey, coming soon.
