Matt Gard Attends Ag Day at the Capitol 2010
Matt Gard, OCC Area I Commissioner and chairman and Major County Conservation District board member, attended Agriculture Day at the Capitol on March 25, 2010. It was his first major excursion since he was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Feb. 28. Riding in a wheelchair, he was warmly greeted by many friends attending the Agriculture Hall of Fame ceremony in the Blue Room at the Capitol.
In the accident that took place along U.S Highway 412 at Meno, Matt suffered several broken bones and vertebrae damage in his back and neck. He underwent surgery on his back on March 3 to stabilize his vertebra with rods and screws. Subsequently, he has moved to the Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Matt sends his thanks to all his friends in the conservation family for all the calls, cards, emails and personal visits offering encouragement and support. They all mean very much to him and are greatly appreciated, he said.
His address at the rehab center is
