Marti Mefford Retires From OCC Water Quality Division

Marti Mefford, OCC Water Quality division’s Honey Creek Project coordinator, will retire from the agency at the end of February 2013

Ben Pollard, OCC assistant director (right), presented Marti Mefford with a Conservation Commendation in appreciation of her service to OCC and the state of Oklahoma.

Marti started with OCC in November 1998 as a part-time secretary for the Water Quality division in Jay, Okla. In March 2000 the duties of information and education assistant for the Delaware County Conservation District were added to her position. In June 2003 she became a full-time WQ employee, helping with the Beatty Creek Project and later becoming coordinator for the Honey Creek Project

The Delaware County Conservation District, along with local OCC and NRCS staff, held a reception for Marti on Feb. 5 to commemorate her retirement. Ben Pollard, OCC assistant director, presented Marti with a Conservation Commendation in appreciation of her service to OCC and the state of Oklahoma.

Marti holds a “Happy Retirement” cake at a reception in her honor on Feb. 5.

Marti said she and her husband Gene plan to do a lot of fishing and traveling to see family in her retirement.
