Fourth Public Meeting for Illinois River Watershed Management Plan Set for June.
The final public meeting dates have been set to update stakeholders regarding the revision of the watershed-based management plan for the Illinois River Watershed. These meetings will be held June 25, 2024, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and June 26, 2024, in Cave Springs, Arkansas.
The Illinois River is one of Oklahoma’s designated scenic rivers and a focus of management efforts for decades. The goal of this watershed-based plan amendment is to refresh ongoing efforts to protect and improve water quality through new data and modeling tools that help guide the delivery of voluntary conservation activities.
During these final meetings, which are open to the public, representatives from Arkansas and Oklahoma will provide a review of the watershed-based management process, watershed modeling results, and present some possible outcomes of conservation practice implementation. Agricultural producers, landowners, and other stakeholders are asked to attend to gain insight and contribute their valuable input into this important process.
The meetings are set for June 25, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the Armory at 100 North Water Avenue and on June 26, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Illinois River Watershed Partnership Watershed Sanctuary at 221 South Main Street, Cave Springs, Arkansas.
