ODVA Farmer Veteran Field Day
Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) is thrilled to announce its partnership in co-hosting the inaugural Farmer Veteran Field Day, slated for May 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at 8656 Banner Road, Slaughterville, OK. This special event, aimed at uniting and educating veteran farmers, promises an enriching day of learning, networking, and exploration of the vast opportunities within the agriculture sector.
The Farmer Veteran Field Day is designed to cater specifically to the unique intersection of military service and agriculture, providing veterans an opportunity to discover and deepen their knowledge in various agricultural practices and how they can leverage their skills for success in this field. The event will cover a range of pertinent topics, including:
- Beekeeping and Bee Removal: An introduction to the world of beekeeping, including the basics of starting and managing a hive, as well as safe practices for bee removal.
- Farmer Veteran Coalition Chapter in Oklahoma: Learn about the benefits and resources available through the Farmer Veteran Coalition’s Oklahoma chapter, aimed at supporting veteran farmers.
- Utilizing Support Organizations in Agriculture: A comprehensive overview of how to effectively utilize support organizations in agriculture such as the OSU Extension, United States Department of Agriculture, Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
