Shockley was reconized during the March 2010 meeting of the Conservation Commission, held at the state Capitol during Conservation Day at the Capitol.

Wes Shockley, OCC Water Quality Division water quality specialist, was recognized at the March 2010 meeting of the Oklahoma Conservation Commission for being named Employee of the Quarter. Shockley works out of the OCC Water Quality field office in Bristow.

The nomination form for Wes stated “Through his 17 years with the Commission, Wes’ data collection standards and understanding of aquatic systems have helped bring recognition to the OCC and the respect of stakeholders at a local, state, and national level. Teaching and
demonstrating field techniques is a skill Wes has developed that often goes unappreciated.  The extra effort Wes expends in this arena improves the overall understanding of the water quality collection crew and often of additional staff from OCC and/or other natural resource agencies.  Wes graciously fulfills this detail although this effort undoubtedly extends his work day beyond normal expectations. Wes is a strong proponent of conservation and has voluntarily supported his local conservation district through writing articles and visiting with landowners regarding water quality and related issues on their behalf.”
