2026 Employee of the Year Recipient: Wendie Sharp

Wendie Sharp, OCC GIS Manager, was recognized as the 2026 Employee of the Year at the March 2026 Staff Meeting of the Oklahoma Conservation Commission. Wendie is well-deserving of the year and received multiple nominations from colleagues. This award is presented by OCC’s Awards and Recognition Committee, which helps coordinate quarterly and annual awards as well as full staff meetings at various locations throughout the state.

Like all members of the GIS team, Wendie is very service-oriented and always willing to lend a helping hand. Her attitude of “how can I help?” has made her a valuable colleague and friend to many at the Oklahoma Conservation Commission over the years. Her technical expertise reaches well beyond the Conservation Programs Division Watershed GIS program. Her knowledge of IT has broadened her tasks into other OCC divisions, for which we are very grateful. When tasks show up and the who or how isn’t clear, Wendie often steps in, figures it out, and gets the job done.

Wendie is a lifelong learner and a great source of curious information on other topics, including tech tips, weather trends, and pop culture trivia. She has an answer for almost everything, and if she doesn’t know, she will find out and let you know what she has learned.

Wendie brings a positive attitude and energy to work, demonstrating it through regular check-ins with colleagues, whether just to say hello, follow up on a project, or just to see how you’re doing. It’s clear to see that Wendie truly cares about the people around her and wants to help brighten everyone’s day. Wendie often takes time out of her busy schedule to provide staff with random notes of encouragement, gifts on holidays, candy, and more.

Wendie’s care, diligence, and belief in doing valuable work make her a cherished employee, and we are proud to have her as our 2026 Employee of the Year.
